The Spur-Of-The-Moment Shakespeare Collective brings you an interactive showcase of the Shakespeare-In-Hospitals Program at the Toronto Fringe. Patrons become patients with this twisted taste of the project’s one-on-one patient visitations. Come and get diagnosed by one of our doctors and fill your prescription. CAUTION: Shakespeare M.D. accepts no responsibility for misdiagnosis, as "Our remedies oft in ourselves do lie, which we ascribe to Heaven."

Ensemble members will also be performing in the SOTMSC’s slot in the Shed Play at the 2013 Toronto Fringe Festival. The SHAKESPEARE-IN-HOSPITALS PROGRAM eliminates physical, economic, and social barriers commonly encountered in the health care sector to arts engagement using classical text. The ensemble tours to select hospitals, senior residences, hospices and shelters across Toronto and the G.T.A. AUDITION DATES: March 29 2013, 2:00PM-5:00PM and April 5 2013, 10:00AM-4:00PM CALLBACKS: April 6 2013, 12:00PM-4:00PM REHEARSAL: April 26 2013-July 3 2013 PERFORMANCE: Once per week, July 3 2013-December 21 2013 PAY: Honorarium DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: March 28 2013 Successful applicants will be contacted for an audition. Spur-Of-The-Moment Shakespeare Collective is looking for three ARTISTIC COLLABORATORS for the next session of SHAKESPEARE-IN-HOSPITALS. SHAKESPEARE-IN-HOSPITALS is a one-of-a-kind program that eliminates physical, economic, and social barriers commonly encountered in the health care sector to arts engagement using classical text. Artists get the opportunity to engage in a creative conversation and build on a network with emerging and established artists from diverse backgrounds, while bringing the results to members of the health care community. RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS -Co-direct a team of four ensemble members -Interact/collaborate with actors, directors, and guest artists -Facilitate an atmosphere for open discussion -Take turns leading the creative exploration and step in as understudies when required -Must have a background in classical performance -Must be self-motivated and organized -Must be passionate about classical theatre and contemporary performance LENGTH: Rehearsals- May-June Performances- once per week July-December PAY: Honorarium Cover Letter and resume may be submitted electronically to Victoria Urquhart at [email protected].
