The Spur-Of-The-Moment Shakespeare
Collective was founded in March 2010 with the Shakespeare-On-The-Subway Project by Victoria Urquhart, Sean Horbatiuk, Brian Daniel Hansen. Originally created to break down economic barriers and provide opportunities for emerging theatre artists to hone their craft, the SOTMSC has become an ever-growing network of emerging artists from multiple disciplines sharing their love for the bard everywhere but on a stage.
The Shakespeare-On-The-Subway Project took place through July and August 2010. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter:

Vision
Language, as we know it, is dying. It is fading away from our schools, jobs, and everyday life. We believe that one of the many reasons for this is the removal of relevant examples of classical text such as the works of William Shakespeare from public access. This is done by setting up social, economic, and even physical barriers. In order to remove these barriers, we must revitalize our view of the text and performance.
Mandate
The Spur-of-the-Moment-Shakespeare Collective is a youth-led group of artists dedicated to breaking down barriers surrounding Shakespearean text, thereby making the Bard's work more accessible. This is done through performing classical pieces spontaneously in modern spaces, demonstrating the humanity of each story in a current context.
We also strive to provide cyclical-benefit projects for artists and the community. Emerging artists need to hone and develop their skills, and there are several opportunities to do so while benefiting the surrounding community. Therefore, we seek to satisfy one need with another.
